This training course is aimed at teachers from preschools, primary schools, and lower secondary schools. It focuses on interactive, multisensory astronomy workshops. The workshops were developed by PhD students in Physics and Astronomy from the Universities of Padua and Bologna, under the guidance of astronomers from the National Institute for Astrophysics (INAF), in collaboration with the Italian Union of the Blind and Visually Impaired and the Office for Inclusion and Disabilities at the University of Padua. These workshops were also presented at the astronomy festival “The Universe in All Senses.”
As part of the festival, the workshops are facilitated by high school students from the provinces of Mantua, Verona, and Brescia, who are trained by PhD students and astronomers through Pathways for Transversal Skills and Career Guidance (PCTO) programs. With this training course, we aim to bring these workshops into preschools, primary, and lower secondary schools so that teachers can incorporate them into their regular teaching activities.
All workshops are designed to engage multiple senses, making them accessible to participants with sensory disabilities (e.g., blind or visually impaired individuals), and can be integrated into school curricula due to their interdisciplinary nature.
The course is limited to a maximum of 20 participants and is free of charge. No prior knowledge of astronomy is required. The National Institute for Astrophysics will issue a certificate of attendance for the course (10 hours). To participate, please register by July 30.
