The multi-handed Sky
Collaboration is fundamental in scientific research. Often, as we observe something on our own, we only see a small part of reality. However, when we join our efforts and share information, we can understand much better. During this laboratory, when comparing and combining your skills you will be able to discover the identity of a few di alcuni mystery items and solve the riddle!

Investigations on our planet
In this laboratory a special meeting is under way to decide, once and for all, whether the Earth is round or flat! Two experts defend opposite theories, but, in order to discover the truth, we will need your help. Through the replication of small practical experiments, you will become real investigators: you will analyze shadow, eclipses, constellations and ships on the horizon to solve the case.

Astronomical Oversights
How many times have we found a cat-shaped cloud and thought we had heard an Italian word in an English song? This type of “allucination” is called “pareidolia” i.e. the tendency of our brain to interpret random objects we see, hear or touch as familiar patterns. In this activity, we will learn to recognize pareidolia through a multisensory experience, and will discover that even the greatest scientists of the past have been misled by their perceptions and beliefs. Finally, we will take a look at the Moon, and will try to understand what mysterious figure lurks among its spots.

In the wrong
Even great scientists make mistakes: often for great artists error is a source of inspiration. We will make a blank page available to you, a sentence and many colors. You can leave your mark, illustrate the page, inspired by the words of scientists and artists, transform wrong traces into creative, and look at the unusual with new eyes. Joining your pages together will become a unique creation…a large book-sculpture!

Broken-down Galaxies
In contemporary cooking, breaking down a dish into its elements is a refined experience. Something similar happens in science too: in order to really understand a galaxy, we should separate and recognize its components, overlapping light signals and tools that can deceive us. In this laboratory, we will use our senses to discover how complex reality is, and how precious- but limited – our tools. Breaking down a galaxy, just like a dish, is the best way to really “taste it”.

Teach me to make mistakes!
Through the multisensory exploration of comets and small bodies of the Solar System, we will discover how astronomers study these charming objects and how our understanding of the Universe changes as the accuracy of the instruments. Observing an object does not mean being able to reproduce it immediately and perfectly, but rather gradually approaching its shape through trials, measurements, mistakes and corrections. This laboratory enhances tact, listening, imagination and collaboration, and recalls the way in which scientists build together knowledge starting from the interpretation of available information.

Between the lines
Made by the Graphic School students, major in Publishing and Art Graphics for books, Accademia di Belle Arti of Venice. “Field Stars” and “red giants” seem like creatures out of a fairy tale – actually…these are astronomical terms with a precise meaning! A typographic laboratory to play with words, read between the lines and imagine through and beyond it.

The Universe in a Box
Among planets, orbits and uncertain routes, the game becomes a journey into error. A selection of astronomical themed board games invites us to explore the Universe leaving room for the unexpected, where any choice can divert the track and any error can be transformed into a discovery. Between free experiences and guided moments, we will experience strategies, share trials and inhabit unexpected possibilities: often the best insights come from mistakes.
The recreational association “Dadi in BiliKo” offers board games for newbies and fans, to spend time together and have fun.

Making mistakes is scientific
Are we sure that science is infallible? Definitely not! Error is the basis of how we discover the world around us, from our planet up to the cosmos. Through our senses, we will try to count the stars of one of the most famous constellations of the night sky, thus discovering how easy it is to make mistakes, and how precious are these errors in order to understand reality. Because making mistakes is not only human… It is also scientific!
